Cultivate the ‘SobreMesa’ Experience w/Friends & Family More!

by Sami Sattva April 14, 2016

Welcome to my Sobremesa Experience! My purpose here is to drive awareness to the Sobremesa experience, to encourage you to practice it more, and to watch a video! I am very much practicing my Spanish roots here, since I was born basically lol. If you are already familiar, please chime in below in the comments! If you aren’t familiar with the term yet, I can guarantee you have already experienced it before without knowing.

[su_dropcap]S[/su_dropcap]Sobremesa is translated to “after meal moments”. It is where friends, family, or strangers gather at the table after a meal to let food digest, converse with each other, enjoying coffee and each others’ company. This is traditional for the Spaniards to do after meals.

Based on the results, we proved that a sobremesa is a meaningful moment for Hispanic families and friends to reunite and share. Could be a special moment to reconnect with your loved ones and the perfect catalyst for this to happen is a good stimulating cup of coffee.

NESCAFÉ Clásico wants to rescue this notion and remind you that you could enjoy a great moment any day of the week simply by bringing coffee to the table after dinner.

Alternatively, the “table” aspect isn’t a necessity, many can share this experience without one such as on a beach, in nature, etc – with NESCAFÉ Clásico INSTANT COFFEE. It’s bold, rich, delicious (HONESTLY), and did I mention it was instant? Hot water, durable glass container, take it wherever! Now, a Sobremesa doesn’t need coffee to be considered one, it can be drinks, wine, tea etc.

Please take a moment to watch the The Sobremesa Project Video

[su_dropcap]M[/su_dropcap]My roots are nested from Spain – where this tradition is practiced daily – it’s in our blood, it’s just what we do! While my boyfriend says it makes sense (how I am), he truly doesn’t understand it, he has always rushes me out of restaurants and is done paying the bill before either of us are done eating the food on our plates. Frustrating at times, because I want to mingle afterwards, allow my food to digest, and just chill with his company before me and enjoy my moments out of the house and out of yoga clothes! Can I get an AMEN?

NESCAFÉ ClásicoAs mentioned above, my family practices this a lot. Whether it’s just 3 of us, immediate family dinner, or a whole family get together on holidays. We eat, we order coffee, we digest and converse to connect on a meaningful level. We talk about our days or what’s going on in life along with the things that make us happy or what our striving goals are. Is this something you and your friends or family practice?

This has truly reminded me of my inner desire to share this experience with my friends and family. It’s just a wholesome feeling to share, in-house, out and about, traveling, trying somewhere new, meeting new friends, remembering old friends, and catching up on some good ‘ole quality time with each other.

DISCONNECT AND UNPLUG from the electronics. Make initiative to foster the relationships around you in real life. The internet will always be there. Real life experiences will pass you by. Stay authentic my friends.

It’s good for the soul! Converse. Create moments. And sip on NESCAFÉ Clásico Coffee. Thank you, truly for stopping by. Now go play!
